Social Club

The Social Club at 95 Arthur Street, Fortitude Valley is a service for individuals living with mental illness. The relaxed atmosphere enables people to drop by for tea or coffee, relax with new and old friends, play pool, or work on the computer. Recreational activities and social programs are also run through the Social Club. They include camps, video days, Pool competitions, social outings, cooking classes and art classes according to volunteer and funding availability.

Social Activities Group

The Fellowship initiated this project in March 2001 (volunteers organise and support this group). Once a month a social activity is organised with and for individuals living with mental illness, and their friends/family. Activities planned include a train trip and BBQ at the Gold Coast, a bus trip to Alma Park Zoo, a trip to the Imax Cinema, horse riding and bushwalking. Costs of participation in the Social Activities Group are minimal.

Camps

The Fellowship facilitates four recreational/support camps per year for individuals living with mental illness. These camps are an opportunity for individuals to mix with old and new friends and generally take a holiday break at minimal cost. Camps are open to members and non-members of the Fellowship. Camp participant numbers are limited to 16/18 per camp. Government and non-government mental health services actively support these camps. Disability Services Queensland funds these camps.
